Long Description
Body, Breath, & Consciousness is a collection of articles compiled by
Ian Macnaughton Ph.D., who also offers some of his own writing to cover
the range of topics offered in this text. The articles, written by experts
in their fields, focus on somatic psychology and the connection between
body and mind in the therapeutic process. The articles touch upon some of
the stumbling blocks that therapists may come across during the course of
their practice. Most deal with therapeutic models and the real life scenarios
and solutions provide valuable reading material for the student and practitioner
alike.
The writing is focused on the body-mind connection and strives
to explore the practices and theories that make this branch of psychology
an important and ever-growing one. Topics include the importance of family
systems, trauma and shock in therapy, and the importance of breathing. The
authors have years of experience in private practice, clinical practice,
and teaching.
Edited by Ian Macnaughton, Ph.D.(Human Science), Vancouver, Canada, who is the founder of the Bodynamics Institute Inc.(Canada) and on the teaching Faculty of both the Bodynamics Institute and Pacific Coast Family Therapy Training Association. He is a registered clinical counsellor (R.C.C.) in Vancouver, British Columbia and a past president of the British Columbia Association of Clinical Counsellors.
