Anne Isaacs, MFT
Anne Isaacs, MA, LCSW
Psychotherapist - Certified Bodynamic Analyst

Santa Monica, California

ANNE SPECIALIZES IN: Working with adults and groups. She particularly enjoys working with early developmental issues and how they impact adults today. For 25 years she has been helping people feel better about themselves and develop deeper relationships and more satisfying lives. She is good at recognizing what is wonderful about people, and helping them to own that in themselves. She has also led long term therapy groups, and long term groups for incest survivors.

Anne's Background: Anne grew up in New Jersey and was deeply affected by the struggles she saw her brother go through with his recovery from polio. She knew when she was quite young that she wanted to work with people to alleviate suffering. Anne was active in the civil rights movement in the early 60’s, and in the anti-war movement of the late 60’s. Before entering graduate school, she worked as a social worker with blind people and with disadvantaged children. Upon receiving her MSW she worked for 4 years in a rural county in Arizona, where she developed a complete mental health program. Then she began to study body psychotherapy, and moved to Los Angeles, and met her husband Joel. Together they continued their work as body psychotherapists, had their daughter Vida, and built their own house. Anne loves to play, dance, sing, swim, read, and hike, though not necessarily in that order.

CREDENTIALS AND EXPERIENCE: Anne received her BA from Boston University and her MSW from the University of Denver. She has been a psychotherapist for over 30 years and in private practice as a body psychotherapist for 19 years. She was originally certified as a Radix teacher and then went on to study other forms of bodypsychotherapy before devoting herself to the study and practice of Bodynamic Analysis for the past 27 years. She was in the original Bodynamic training in the US and is an Analyst as well as a Trainer and anatomy teacher. Anne is also one of the founding directors of the United States Association of Body Psychotherapy, and was co-chair of their first bi-annual conference. She is currently chair of their next conference in June, 2000. For the past 20 years she has led five day workshops with her husband Joel at Esalen Institute, and has also trained therapists in Europe, South America, and Australia.
